Check Cashing Policy

Tonawanda Valley Federal Credit Union reserves the right to exercise check holds on an exception basis. Please refer to the information regarding availability of funds.

Questions regarding check holds may be directed to the Teller Services Manager.

Federal and State Income Tax Checks

1. All income tax checks, both state and federal, must be properly endorsed. NO EXCEPTIONS.

2. All payees must be present with proper photo identification in order to receive any cash for federal or state income tax checks.

3. If all payees are not present, income tax checks may be deposited into a joint account in the name of both payees, or into the account of the name of the payee not present.

4. The credit union may not make funds available immediately as explained in our availability of funds policy.

Non-Member Checks

If the payee on the face of a check is not a credit union member, TVFCU will be unable to accept the check for a transaction. All checks presented must be made payable to a member.

Third Party Checks

TVFCU does not accept third party checks.
